Silk Made Simple

Silk may feel luxurious, but caring for it is simpler than you think. With a little attention, these pieces can stay beautiful for years to come. Follow our care guide to keep your duvet, bedding, pillowcases, and sleep masks looking and feeling their best.

General Silk Care Tips

These tips apply to most of our silk bedding and accessories. For duvets, please follow the specific guidance on limited cleaning and regular airing.

  • Use a gentle, pH-neutral detergent designed for silk or delicates.

  • Wash in cold water (30°C / 85°F or below) to protect the fibers.

  • Choose a delicate or hand-wash cycle for best results.

  • Wash separately from heavier items like denim or towels.

  • Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals that weaken silk fibers.

  • Skip fabric softeners. Silk is naturally smooth and soft.

Caring for Each Product

Cotton-Shell, Mulberry Silk-Filled Duvet

  • Daily use: Always pair with a duvet cover to protect the fill.
  • Cleaning: Refresh by airing outdoors, avoiding direct sunlight. Machine washing or dry cleaning should be rare, as it shortens the duvet’s life.
  • Spot cleaning: Treat small marks gently with a silk-safe detergent.
  • Storage: Keep in its protective sleeve in a cool, dry place.

Pro tip: A seasonal airing in spring and autumn keeps your duvet fresh and fluffy.

Silk Bedding Set

  • Washing: Machine wash cold (30°C or below) on a delicate cycle. Turn inside out to reduce friction and preserve the natural sheen.
  • Detergent: Use a gentle detergent made for silk or delicates.
  • Drying: Line dry or lay flat away from direct sunlight. Tumble drying is not recommended, but if needed, use the lowest heat setting.
  • Ironing: Use a cool iron or steamer on the reverse side.
  • Storage: Fold and store in a breathable cotton bag. Avoid plastic, which can trap moisture.

Silk Pillowcase

  • Washing: Hand wash or machine wash on a delicate cycle with a gentle detergent.
  • Frequency: Wash every one to two weeks, just as you would a cotton pillowcase.
  • Drying: Line dry in the shade. Silk dries quickly and keeps its natural sheen best when air-dried.

Travel tip: Roll instead of folding to minimize creases in your bag.

Silk Sleep Mask

  • Washing: Hand wash in cold water with a silk-safe detergent.
  • Drying: Press out excess water gently with a towel (never wring) and lay flat to dry away from direct sunlight.
  • Storage: Keep in its pouch to protect the silk and maintain its shape.

Pro tip: If you use a mask daily, rotate between two. It gives each one time to rest and stay fresh between washes.

Longevity & Sustainability

Silk is designed to last — it’s one of the strongest natural fibers. With simple care:

  • Pillowcases can last for years without losing softness.
  • Duvets can last over a decade.
  • Unlike synthetics, silk won’t shed harmful microplastics when washed.

Our promise: Every piece from the sīlk comes with guidance so you can enjoy it at its best, night after night.
